Former Yankees All-Star Gary Sanchez has agreed to a one-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles, as reported by Jon Heyman of the New York Post on Saturday night. Sanchez, who played for the Yankees from 2015 to 2021, was named an MLB All-Star twice (2017, 2019) and won a Silver Slugger Award in 2017 during his seven years with the team.
Once considered a key player for the Yankees, the 32-year-old’s performance declined in his final two seasons in New York, where he hit 33 home runs but posted a disappointing .187 batting average.
Sanchez has since had stints with the Minnesota Twins in 2022, the New York Mets, San Diego Padres in 2023, and the Milwaukee Brewers in 2024. Last season, he hit 11 home runs and recorded 37 RBIs with a .220 average and a .699 OPS, his best since 2019.
Now, he will join the Orioles’ roster, aiming to contribute to their pursuit of success in 2025. The Yankees (94-68) will have to face their former player on their AL rival Baltimore (91-71), who finished just behind them in the standings last season.
