The winter NCAA Transfer Portal window has begun to make an impact on Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff as they work to shape the roster for the 2025 offseason. Over the coming weeks, the roster picture for Texas will start to become clearer as the transfer portal cycle unfolds.
While Texas is gearing up for the 12-team College Football Playoff next weekend in Austin against Clemson in the first round, the team has also been actively searching the portal for immediate roster upgrades.
Among the transfer portal visitors the Longhorns have hosted this week, former Utah graduate transfer punter Jack Bouwmeester has already committed to Texas and signed his paperwork during his visit to Austin.
The list of portal visitors continues to grow, with several top targets arriving this weekend. Here’s a look at some of the upcoming visitors for Texas.
Cole Brevard, DT (Purdue)
Texas is currently hosting former Purdue defensive tackle Cole Brevard on a visit. Brevard, who entered the portal as a graduate transfer on Dec. 3, is an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection this season. Standing at 6-foot-3 and 330 pounds, Brevard offers the size and experience Texas needs at nose tackle. Before his visit to Texas, Brevard toured SMU on Dec. 12 and has no other scheduled visits.
Brad Spence, LB (Arkansas)
Another portal visitor is former Arkansas linebacker Brad Spence, who began his visit to Texas today. Spence, a sophomore, has played 23 games for the Razorbacks over the past two seasons, accumulating 70 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one interception, and a fumble recovery. Spence was also active in the game against Texas this season, recording seven tackles, a sack, and two quarterback pressures.
Eric Singleton Jr., WR (Georgia Tech)
The most anticipated transfer visit for Texas in the coming days is former Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. Singleton, ranked as the No. 1 transfer prospect in this cycle by 247Sports, has already visited Ole Miss, Georgia, and Auburn. He is scheduled to visit Texas and Miami next week, with his Texas visit set for Monday, Dec. 16.
