Ohio State Star Lathan Ransom Prepares for Senior Bowl Showcase

Ohio State Safety Lathan Ransom Accepts Invite to 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl

Ohio State safety Lathan Ransom is gearing up for one of college football’s premier showcases. On Monday night, it was announced that Ransom has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2:30 p.m. The annual all-star game will provide Ransom with a platform to showcase his skills in front of NFL scouts and coaches as he prepares to take the next step in his football career.

Ransom has been a key piece of Ohio State’s defense since joining the program in 2020. This season, he has tallied 61 tackles and one interception, forming one of the nation’s most formidable safety tandems alongside Caleb Downs. The duo has been instrumental in leading the Buckeyes’ defense into the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, where they will face Oregon on Jan. 1.

An Emotional Return to the Rose Bowl

The showdown against Oregon holds special significance for Ransom. It marks his return to the Rose Bowl, the site of his devastating leg injury in the 2022 game, when the Buckeyes narrowly edged Utah in a 48-45 thriller. This time, Ransom and his teammates will be chasing national championship glory, adding another layer of motivation to an already emotional matchup.

A Consistent Contributor for Ohio State

Over his five years with the Buckeyes, Ransom has developed into a consistent and reliable player in the secondary. Known for his physicality, football IQ, and leadership, the Arizona native has been a steady presence on a defense that has consistently ranked among the best in the nation.

Buckeyes Continue to Shine in the Spotlight

Ohio State’s dominance extends beyond the field, as the Buckeyes continue to captivate audiences nationwide. Their prime-time clash against Tennessee last Saturday drew 14.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched game of the weekend and the second-most-watched contest of the 2024 season. The Buckeyes’ ability to attract massive audiences underscores their place as one of college football’s premier programs.

Ransom’s Senior Bowl Opportunity

The Reese’s Senior Bowl serves as a pivotal moment for players like Ransom to make their case for the NFL. With his impressive collegiate résumé and his ability to rise to the occasion in high-stakes games, Ransom will be one to watch in Mobile, Alabama. As he takes the field alongside the nation’s top seniors, he will undoubtedly look to solidify his standing as a draft prospect while representing Ohio State with pride.

The Buckeyes’ pursuit of a national title continues on New Year’s Day, and for Lathan Ransom, the coming weeks represent both a personal and team milestone as he prepares for the next chapter of his football journey.
