Ohio State Walk-On Caden Davis Dismissed Days Before National Championship Game

Ohio State walk-on defensive end Caden Davis, known for his social media presence as a Buckeyes football player, has been dismissed from the team, according to a report from the Lantern on Wednesday (January 15). The dismissal comes just days before Ohio State’s College Football Playoff National Championship matchup against Notre Dame.

Davis confirmed the news in a heartfelt social media post, expressing gratitude to the Buckeye community.

Controversy Surrounding Davis’ Social Media Activity

Davis gained notoriety online for chronicling his life as an Ohio State football player, despite never appearing in a game. Questions about his status with the team began circulating when he posted a video that appeared to show the Buckeyes’ recent trip to AT&T Stadium for their Cotton Bowl semifinal win over Texas. However, the footage was revealed to be from Ohio State’s 2023 Cotton Bowl appearance, sparking backlash.

Adding to the controversy, offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick reportedly called out Davis in a since-deleted comment, saying, “You don’t play here.”

As of Thursday (January 16), Ohio State has not provided an official reason for Davis’ dismissal.
