Bills Make Roster Move Ahead of AFC Championship Clash with Chiefs
The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a high-stakes showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, where the winner will secure a coveted spot in Super Bowl LIX. After triumphing over the Denver Broncos in the Wild Card round and the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round, the Bills face their toughest test yet. Despite being a 2-point underdog, per ESPN BET, Buffalo’s focus remains unwavering as they aim to dethrone the perennial AFC powerhouse.
In a noteworthy roster move leading up to the game, the Bills released quarterback Anthony Brown. Brown, who joined Buffalo’s practice squad on January 15, was let go to maintain roster flexibility as the team zeroes in on its championship aspirations.
Brown’s Journey
The 6-foot-1 quarterback entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2022 after a five-year collegiate career split between Boston College (2016–2019) and Oregon (2020–2021). While at Boston College and Oregon, Brown showcased dual-threat capabilities, recording 60 passing touchdowns, 15 rushing touchdowns, and over 9,000 combined yards.
Brown’s professional career, however, has been a winding path. He made brief appearances with the Baltimore Ravens in 2022, throwing for 302 yards and two interceptions while completing 44.9% of his passes in two games. He later spent time on the practice squads of the Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals in 2024 before his short stint in Buffalo.

Current Bills Quarterback Room
The Bills’ quarterback depth chart now comprises Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky, ensuring stability at the position as they prepare for the Chiefs. Allen continues to lead the charge, combining his cannon-like arm with his ability to make plays with his legs. Trubisky remains a reliable backup, providing veteran presence and experience in the quarterback room.
The Road Ahead
Buffalo’s release of Brown signals their readiness to go all-in for the AFC title game. The matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs is set to be a battle of offensive firepower and defensive resolve. With Allen at the helm and a balanced roster behind him, the Bills are determined to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1993.
As the Bills prepare for what could be a franchise-defining game, their focus on making strategic roster decisions underlines their commitment to bringing the Lombardi Trophy home to Buffalo.
