Celtics Close Gap on Cavs, Eyeing Trade Deadline Moves
The Boston Celtics secured a crucial road victory on Tuesday night, defeating the league-leading Cleveland Cavaliers 112-105. Cleveland, the only NBA team to have reached 40 wins this season, suffered just their second loss to Boston despite holding the league’s best winning percentage heading into the game.
While the Celtics remain the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, their victory has trimmed the gap to just 4.5 games behind the Cavs. Jayson Tatum struggled from the field, shooting just 7-of-23, but still managed to lead the team with 22 points, seven assists, and two steals. Derrick White also played a key role, adding 20 points in the win.
Trade Deadline Activity Heats Up
With championship aspirations in mind, Boston is expected to be active ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline, looking to bolster what is already one of the league’s deepest rosters.
The Celtics recently parted ways with guard Jaden Springer, sending him to the Houston Rockets in exchange for draft compensation. The move suggests that Boston is looking to free up roster space and gather assets for a potential trade before the deadline.
Cam Reddish a Potential Target?
One intriguing name linked to Boston is Los Angeles Lakers forward Cam Reddish. The 25-year-old has shown flashes of his potential but has yet to fully establish himself in the NBA. Reddish has started in select games for L.A. over the past two seasons but has struggled to carve out a consistent role.
Through six NBA seasons, he’s averaging 8.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and one steal per game while shooting 43% from the field this year. Though not a marquee name, Reddish’s versatility and length could make him an intriguing addition to the Celtics’ rotation.
If acquired, he could serve as a more polished version of Springer and provide additional depth as Boston gears up for a deep playoff run.
With the trade deadline fast approaching, all eyes are on the Celtics’ front office to see if they will make a splash and solidify their championship push.
