Former Boston Celtics guard Nate Robinson has announced that he will be undergoing a life-saving kidney transplant, marking a crucial step in his ongoing battle with renal disease. The three-time NBA Slam Dunk champion shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to receive a new kidney after facing health struggles for some time.

Robinson took to Instagram to update fans and well-wishers, posting an emotional message about his faith and the journey ahead.

“I’m here to celebrate and thank the LORD for all he has done in my life,” Robinson wrote. “Today is the day I get my new kidney, thank you to all the people that sent prayers and texted my phone giving me encouragement & love!!! Ur a foo if you don’t believe in GOD and the miracles he performs!! Amen 🙏🏾”

This is uplifting news for Robinson, and the hope is that he will make a full recovery following the transplant. The former high-flying guard has long been a fan favorite, known for his electrifying athleticism and underdog mentality on the court.

Robinson’s Impact on the Celtics

Robinson’s tenure with the Celtics was brief but memorable. Acquired from the New York Knicks in a trade for Eddie House, Bill Walker, and J.R. Giddens, he quickly endeared himself to Boston fans with his energy and fearless play.

During the 2009-10 season, Robinson played in 26 games for the Celtics, averaging 6.5 points per game in just under 15 minutes of action per contest. Serving as Rajon Rondo’s backup, Robinson played a key role in Boston’s playoff run, stepping up when injuries affected the team’s depth.

One of his most notable contributions came in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic. In a pivotal Game 6, Robinson and forward Glen Davis provided a much-needed spark off the bench, helping to propel the Celtics to the NBA Finals. Though Boston ultimately fell to the Los Angeles Lakers in a hard-fought seven-game series, Robinson’s impact was undeniable.

The following season, Robinson was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but his time in Boston remains cherished by Celtics fans. Any player who helps push the team to an NBA Finals appearance cements their legacy in franchise history.

A Fighter On and Off the Court

Robinson has always been known for his relentless spirit, whether it was defying the odds as a 5’9” dunk champion or battling through adversity in his post-playing career. His latest challenge has been a fight against renal disease, but with his surgery now underway, there is optimism that he will be able to regain his health and continue inspiring others.

The entire basketball community is rallying behind Robinson as he undergoes this procedure, hoping for a successful transplant and a smooth recovery. Celtics fans and the NBA world will undoubtedly continue to support one of the most exciting players of his generation as he takes this next step toward healing.
