The Oregon Ducks are making waves in the 2026 recruiting cycle, positioning themselves as one of the premier programs in the nation. With the top-ranked class according to 247Sports—featuring two five-star and six four-star commitments—Oregon is capitalizing on early momentum. Now, they’re in prime position to add another blue-chip talent to their ranks.
On Monday, recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong of On3Sports reported that Oregon, along with Georgia and Penn State, are leading the charge to land Immanuel Iheanacho, one of the top offensive linemen in the 2026 class.
A Generational Talent in the Trenches
Iheanacho, a towering 6-foot-6, 350-pound offensive tackle from Rockville, Maryland, is a consensus five-star recruit. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 2 offensive tackle and the No. 5 overall player in the class of 2026. The only tackle ranked ahead of him is Jackson Cantwell, an elite prospect out of Missouri who remains uncommitted.
While Iheanacho has a long list of suitors—including Alabama, Miami, Florida, Texas A&M, LSU, and in-state program Maryland—he has made it clear that one program stands above the rest.
“Leader is still Oregon,” Iheanacho told Wiltfong. “Oregon, Georgia, and Penn State. Those are my leaders.”

Why Iheanacho Would Be a Perfect Fit for Oregon
Oregon’s offensive line is undergoing a major transition. The Ducks are losing both starting tackles from the 2024 season—Josh Conerly and Ajani Cornelius—to the NFL Draft. To bridge the gap in 2025, Oregon turned to the transfer portal, landing Nevada’s Isaiah World and Texas State’s Alex Harkey as projected starters. However, neither will have eligibility beyond 2025, making Iheanacho’s potential addition even more crucial.
Although it’s unlikely Iheanacho would start as a true freshman in 2026—given the experience and development needed at the collegiate level—his physical traits suggest he won’t have to wait long for playing time. His elite size and skill set make him a prime candidate to anchor an offensive line for years to come.
What’s Next in Iheanacho’s Recruitment?
Iheanacho still has plenty of time to weigh his options. He isn’t expected to make his final decision until December 2025, should he choose to sign during the Early National Signing Day period. With Oregon currently in the driver’s seat, the Ducks will need to continue their strong recruiting push to fend off elite competition.
If Oregon can seal the deal, Iheanacho would be another massive addition to an already elite recruiting class—bolstering their reputation as a powerhouse in the trenches and keeping their championship aspirations alive for years to come.
