
No. 17 Kansas men’s basketball suffered a narrow 74-67 loss to Utah on Saturday night.
The first half was closely contested, with the Jayhawks trailing 39-37 at the break.
KU stepped up defensively in the second half, holding Utah scoreless for nearly seven minutes, tying the game at 60-60 with 4:59 left.
However, the Utes regained their offensive rhythm, while Kansas struggled to score. KJ Adams Jr. fouled out in the game’s final minutes.
Utah capitalized on free throws to secure the upset victory in KU’s first-ever game in their arena.
Zeke Mayo led the Jayhawks with 15 points, while Hunter Dickinson and Dajuan Harris Jr. added 12 and 14 points, respectively. Mayo briefly left the game due to a knee injury but returned after a visit to the locker room.
With the loss, Kansas drops to 17-8 on the season and 8-6 in conference play. They will stay in Utah to face BYU on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. in Provo.
