Halliday’s Move to Houston

The trade sees Orlando City SC receiving a first-round pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft along with a sell-on percentage should Halliday be transferred elsewhere in the future.
The Lodeiro Situation
Unlike Halliday’s clear-cut transfer, Lodeiro’s departure was more complicated. The experienced midfielder left his Senior Roster spot, mutually agreeing with the club to terminate his contract. Orlando used its buyout clause to remove Lodeiro’s guaranteed salary from its 2025 budget, effectively freeing up roster space.
Despite his exit, Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi left the door open for Lodeiro’s potential return. Houston Dynamo’s Pursuit of Lodeiro
Houston soccer broadcaster and former professional player Glenn Davis spoke as though Lodeiro’s move to Houston was all but finalized, describing him as one of the best playmakers in MLS history. Davis emphasized that Lodeiro’s presence would be crucial for the Dynamo as they work toward securing a long-term Designated Player signing. Rather than replacing Lodeiro when that happens, the club would see him as an enhancement to their midfield.
