Former Celtics Forward Lamar Stevens Signs 10-Day Deal With Grizzlies

Former Boston Celtics forward Lamar Stevens has found his next NBA opportunity, signing a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The move reunites Stevens with the team that acquired him at last season’s trade deadline in the deal that sent Xavier Tillman to Boston.
Stevens, 26, was initially signed by the Celtics before the 2023-24 season, appearing in 19 games (one start) before being dealt to Memphis. In his short stint with the Grizzlies, he made an impact, averaging 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds over 19 games. Despite his solid performance, Stevens wasn’t able to secure a contract last summer and had to work his way back into the league.
After being waived by the Detroit Pistons following a training camp deal, Stevens spent time with the Motor City Cruise, Detroit’s G League affiliate. His perseverance has now earned him another chance at the NBA level with a familiar organization.
The Grizzlies, currently battling in a highly competitive Western Conference with a 36-18 record, are looking to bolster their depth on the wing. Injuries have hampered Memphis in recent seasons, providing opportunities for players like Stevens to step up. Now, he will aim to make the most of his 10-day audition and potentially secure a longer stay with the team.
With Memphis eyeing a strong finish to the regular season and a deep playoff run, Stevens’ energy and defensive versatility could be a valuable asset. If he can build on his previous success with the Grizzlies, he may have a shot at sticking on the roster beyond this short-term deal.
