Boston Celtics Face Portland Trail Blazers with Key Players on Injury Report

The Boston Celtics are set to host the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night for their 62nd game of the 2024-25 season, aiming for their 44th win. However, the Celtics’ injury report is a major concern heading into this matchup, with several key players listed, including Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Celtics’ Injury Report Grows
The Celtics’ injury report features six key players: Tatum, Brown, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Payton Pritchard, and Derrick White.
Tatum and Brown are both listed as questionable. Tatum is dealing with a right shoulder impingement, while Brown is battling an illness. Tatum, 27, was just shy of a triple-double in Sunday’s win over the Denver Nuggets, further emphasizing his value to the team. If he is unable to suit up, Boston may turn to Sam Hauser and Drew Peterson to step up in his absence.
Brown, who contributed 22 points, five rebounds, and eight assists against Denver, could also miss the game due to illness. If that happens, Hauser, Baylor Scheierman, Jordan Walsh, and Torrey Craig could see increased minutes.
(2/2):
Payton Pritchard (left hip flexor tightness) – PROBABLE
Jayson Tatum (right shoulder impingement) – QUESTIONABLE
Derrick White (low back contusion) – PROBABLE— Boston Celtics (@celtics) March 4, 2025
Holiday, Pritchard Also on Injury List
Jrue Holiday is in danger of missing his third straight game due to a right hand injury. If he remains out, Boston’s depth will be tested even further, particularly with Pritchard also on the injury report. Pritchard, however, is listed as probable with left hip flexor tightness. Having missed only one game this season, he is expected to play and could see extended minutes with so many other Celtics in question.
Pritchard has been productive in recent games, averaging 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 three-pointers, and 2.4 assists over his last five outings.
A Critical Stretch for Boston
This matchup against Portland marks the first of a back-to-back for the Celtics, meaning they’ll need to carefully manage minutes and injuries. It is also the first of two meetings between these teams this season. With a lengthy injury list, Boston will rely on its depth to maintain its position atop the Eastern Conference standings.
