Clemson Lands Key Transfer in Former Nevada Star Nick Davidson

Clemson basketball has made its first major splash in the transfer portal, securing a commitment from former Nevada standout Nick Davidson. The 6-foot-10, 238-pound forward, an All-Mountain West Second Team selection in 2025, chose the Tigers over Virginia, Washington, Texas, and Notre Dame, according to On3 Sports’ Joe Tipton.
Davidson brings an immediate impact to Clemson’s frontcourt, likely stepping into a starting role. Last season, he averaged 15.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while shooting an efficient 50% from the field. He also showcased his ability to stretch the floor, knocking down 37.1% of his three-point attempts on 3.8 attempts per game. His free-throw shooting, however, sat at 69.9%.
Ranked as the No. 2 available center in the transfer portal by 247Sports and the No. 27 overall prospect, Davidson provides a much-needed boost for a Clemson team facing significant roster turnover. The Tigers have lost 10 of their 13 scholarship players from last season, including their top five leading scorers. With Davidson in the fold, Clemson’s roster now sits at seven players, indicating that the program will remain active in the transfer portal.
Davidson, a redshirt junior last year, started all 33 games for Nevada, posting career-best numbers across the board. His commitment represents a key addition for head coach Brad Brownell as the Tigers look to reload for the 2025 season.
Expect Clemson to continue aggressively pursuing talent in the portal as they look to rebuild a competitive squad in the ACC.
