Orlando City SC Acquires Allocation Money in Deal with Colorado Rapids

Orlando City SC has finalized a deal with the Colorado Rapids, securing $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in exchange for the Homegrown Priority rights to goalkeeper Zack Campagnolo. The agreement follows Campagnolo’s signing of a first-team contract with Colorado, cementing his professional future with the Rapids.
In addition to the initial $100,000, Orlando City stands to gain up to an additional $100,000 in performance-based incentives if certain metrics are met. Furthermore, the Lions retain a sell-on percentage should Campagnolo be transferred in the future, ensuring they benefit from any potential moves down the line.
Campagnolo, a product of the Orlando City Academy from 2021 to 2023, relocated to Colorado with his family before ultimately joining the Rapids. His development in Orlando’s youth system played a crucial role in his journey to the professional ranks, making this transaction a strategic move for both clubs.
This deal provides Orlando City with valuable financial flexibility while allowing the young goalkeeper to pursue his career in Colorado. The Lions will likely use the acquired GAM to bolster their roster as they continue their pursuit of success in Major League Soccer.
