LAFC Bolster Midfield Depth with Signing of Former Whitecaps Standout Ryan Raposo

In their push for another deep playoff run, LAFC have added an experienced and versatile piece to their midfield. The club announced Thursday the signing of Ryan Raposo, a dynamic 26-year-old who joins as a free agent after five seasons with Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Raposo’s deal runs through the 2025 season with a club option for 2026.
A former Canadian youth international, Raposo brings over 120 games of MLS experience to the Black & Gold. Selected fourth overall in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft out of Syracuse University, he tallied five goals and eight assists in 122 regular-season appearances for Vancouver. Along the way, he collected three Canadian Championship titles, showcasing his value in key matches.
“Ryan is a dynamic player who will be a great addition to our team,” said LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington. “We are incredibly excited to welcome a player with Ryan’s experience and abilities to Los Angeles.”
For LAFC, the move adds valuable depth as the club eyes a fourth consecutive trip to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. They’ve also advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, where having tested, playoff-ready veterans like Raposo could prove pivotal.
While he may not have always grabbed headlines in Vancouver, Raposo’s energy, technical ability, and tactical awareness made him a trusted option for coaches over the years. Now, with a fresh opportunity in Southern California, he’ll look to carve out a role with one of the league’s premier clubs.
