Brian Kelly Raids Texas, Snatches 4-Star Lineman from College Football’s Power Elite
The LSU Tigers are coming off a strong showing in the 2025 NFL Draft, with four offensive linemen selected — including All-American left tackle Will Campbell, who went in the top 10 to the New England Patriots. Building a dominant offensive line has been a key focus for head coach Brian Kelly, a philosophy that dates back to his time at Notre Dame — and one that clearly remains a priority.
As part of their 2026 recruiting efforts, LSU is targeting several high-level offensive linemen, including Drew Evers from Flower Mound High School in Texas. Over the weekend, Evers named LSU as one of his six finalists, alongside Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A\&M, Penn State, and SMU.
Evers, who stands 6-foot-3.5 and weighs 285 pounds, is widely recognized as a four-star recruit across major platforms. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 208 overall prospect, the No. 13 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 27 player in Texas for the 2026 class. However, 247Sports individually lists him slightly lower, rating him a three-star and the No. 27 interior lineman.

Despite the variation in rankings, Evers’ offer sheet speaks volumes. Beyond his final six, he holds offers from powerhouse programs like Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, and many more, highlighting just how in-demand he is.
Although his sub-6’4″ frame is considered atypical for a tackle, his 81-inch wingspan gives him the potential to stick on the outside. Some see him transitioning to the interior, but either way, his talent and upside at the next level are clear. LSU remains firmly in the mix as they compete with top programs for his commitment.
