JUST IN; The Cubs have removed right-handed relief pitcher Tyson Miller from their active roster.
WASHINGTON (AP) – In a strategic roster move, the Chicago Cubs designated reliever Tyson Miller for assignment on Thursday, shortly after reinstating the right-handed pitcher from the 60-day injured list.
The 29-year-old Miller, acquired from Seattle in a May 2024 trade, showcased his prowess last season with an impressive 2.15 ERA across 49 appearances for the Cubs.

Despite a promising recovery, Miller posted a 2.77 ERA in 12 rehab outings for Triple-A Iowa across two stints this season, having started the year sidelined by injury.
Cubs manager Craig Counsell addressed the tough call, stating, “Tyson wasn’t quite ready to supplant anyone on our active roster. It’s a challenging decision, given his stellar performance last year, where he consistently delivered. We extend our best wishes for his future endeavors.”
Entering Thursday’s matchup in Washington, Chicago’s bullpen has sharpened its edge, boasting a 3.56 ERA over 222 2/3 innings—a marked improvement from the 4.59 ERA recorded among relievers as of May 16.
