The Edmonton Oilers have inked Connor Ungar, a 22-year-old goaltender from Canada who played for Brock University, to a two-year entry-level contract. Ungar had an impressive rookie season, boasting a 20-6-0 record, a 2.15 goals-against average, and a .932 save percentage. Hailing from Calgary, Ungar was honored as both the OUA’s goaltender and rookie of the year.
The Oilers announced on Monday that Ungar will join their American Hockey League affiliate in Bakersfield, California. Throughout his five seasons in the Western Hockey League with Brandon, Red Deer, and Moose Jaw, Ungar appeared in 87 games and accumulated a career record of 53-20-2, with a 2.57 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
Standing at six-foot-two and weighing 196 pounds, Connor Ungar played a key role in the Warriors’ journey to the second round of the playoffs in 2023, finishing with a 6-3-1 record.
During the 2024 University Cup in Toronto, the Brock Badgers, seeded eighth, were defeated 4-0 by the eventual champion UNB Reds. In the postseason, Ungar recorded a 3-3 record with a 2.33 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage in six games for the Badgers.
