LAFC to sign striker Kei Kamara as free agent

Kamara has been training with LAFC this week, and negotiations for a contract have commenced. At 39 years old, Kamara holds the third-highest goal-scoring record in MLS history, tallying 144 regular season goals, just one shy of second place held by Landon Donovan.

In the previous season, Kamara played for the Chicago Fire, contributing five goals. His standout performance for CF Montréal in 2022 highlighted his ability as a top striker in the league.

Upon joining LAFC, he will mark his debut for the 11th different MLS team, setting a league record. Kamara’s professional journey also includes stints with Middlesbrough and Norwich in England, as well as Orange County Blue Star in the USL PDL and California State University. His MLS career commenced in 2006 with the Columbus Crew.

This news follows reports earlier this week from The Athletic indicating LAFC’s efforts to finalize a deal to sign Olivier Giroud this summer.
