Justin Hardee’s Big Message After Signing With Browns

The Cleveland Browns have maintained a relatively subdued presence in free agency during this offseason, with a primary focus on retaining the core players who propelled them unexpectedly to the playoffs last season.

While their efforts primarily centered on re-signing defensive end Za’Darius Smith, the Browns also made notable additions, including former Minnesota Viking Jordan Hicks.

On Tuesday, the Browns secured Justin Hardee, a native of Cleveland, who took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the opportunity to play for his hometown team.

“Cleveland!!!! Let’s go I’m back home! Year 8 blessed. I had no clue but God always knew !!!” he tweeted.

Playing for one’s hometown team is a rare and fortunate opportunity in professional sports, which Hardee now embraces.

Undrafted from the University of Illinois in 2017, Hardee spent his initial four seasons with the New Orleans Saints before joining the New York Jets in 2022. Throughout his NFL career, he has primarily contributed on special teams, with occasional defensive snaps and even a reception for 10 yards and a first down in 2018.

Despite significant setbacks, such as season-ending injuries to star running back Nick Chubb and quarterback Deshaun Watson, the Browns managed to secure 11 victories last season. However, their playoff journey was cut short with a defeat against the Houston Texans.

While uncertainty looms regarding Chubb’s return timeline, General Manager Andrew Berry expresses confidence in Watson’s readiness for the upcoming 2024 campaign.
