Former Super Bowl champion Vernon Davis has spoken out about the unexpected passing of his NFL player brother, Vontae Davis.
Vontae, aged 35, tragically passed away on Monday, discovered unresponsive by a housekeeper. Vernon provided some insight into the events surrounding his brother’s death, speaking exclusively to Ben Ashford of The Daily Mail.
“Vernon, aged 40, shared with DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview that his brother seemed to collapse or slip shortly after exiting a sauna.
‘This news has truly blindsided me. I’m at a loss for words,’ expressed Vernon, reflecting on the devastating loss of Vontae.
Raised alongside their four siblings in a challenging neighborhood in Washington, D.C. by their grandmother, the Davis brothers shared a deep bond.
‘I’m relying on the investigators to unravel this mystery, but currently, we have no answers. They will conduct tests, and we anticipate receiving updates within the next month or so.’
Both brothers enjoyed successful NFL careers, with Vontae playing for the Dolphins, Colts, and Bills, while Vernon achieved victory in Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos. Vontae’s abrupt departure from a game at halftime in 2018 shocked the sports world when he announced his retirement.”
