Hunter Dickinson #1 of the Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas senior center Hunter Dickinson, currently in Phoenix for the 2024 Final Four events, shared insights into his future during a guest appearance on the Field of 68 podcast on Friday. Dickinson, a 7-foot-2, 23-year-old native of Alexandria, Virginia, revealed that he is contemplating between returning for a fifth year of college or pursuing a professional basketball career in the 2024 NBA Draft. While seated alongside North Carolina’s Armando Bacot and podcast host Jeff Goodman at an outdoor restaurant near State Farm Stadium, Dickinson emphasized that he has yet to finalize his decision and is seeking advice from trusted sources. He highlighted the importance of gathering feedback and making an informed choice without feeling pressured, expressing his hope to reach a decision soon.

Dickinson, who transferred to Kansas for the 2023-24 season after three years at Michigan, has the option for a super-senior season if he opts to continue his college basketball career. He faces a deadline of April 27 to declare for the NBA Draft if he wishes to explore professional opportunities. Amidst various meetings and interviews in Phoenix, including discussions on Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) and providing previews for the Final Four matchups, Dickinson expressed his preference for being on the court rather than attending the Final Four events as a spectator. Reflecting on Kansas’s season, he acknowledged the team’s highs and lows, citing injuries and departures as factors that impacted their performance. Dickinson praised Purdue’s Zach Edey, whom he faced during his time at Michigan, noting Edey’s development and predicting further improvement in his game.
