In a recent article on Bleacher Report, Zach Buckley proposed a trade scenario between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers for the upcoming offseason.
Buckley suggests that the Warriors could trade Andrew Wiggins to the Cavaliers in exchange for Jarrett Allen. He explores the idea of adding promising prospect Trayce Jackson-Davis and future first-round picks to sweeten the deal, making it more appealing for the Cavaliers.
According to Buckley, such a trade could benefit both teams. He envisions Allen becoming a defensive anchor and a reliable lob finisher for the Warriors, while Wiggins might benefit from a change of scenery in Cleveland.
Wiggins, who averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists for the Warriors this season, is set to earn $26.3 million next season. Meanwhile, Allen, who posted averages of 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks for the Cavaliers, will make $20 million in the final year of his contract.
The Warriors recently lost in the play-in tournament, while the Cavaliers are currently leading 2-0 in their playoff series against the Orlando Magic.
Buckley also suggests that the Warriors might seek to trade Wiggins during the summer, and he reflects on Wiggins’ history with the Cavaliers, who drafted him with the first overall pick in 2014 before trading him to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love.
