A prominent NFL player urges teams to recruit a standout player from the Kansas Jayhawks after he remains unsigned following the draft.

Guess who lent their support for one of KU’s undrafted free agents? Yes, Sauce Gardner, the NFL sensation, stepped up to advocate for linebacker Rich Miller on the social media platform X. Gardner’s endorsement could significantly boost Miller’s chances of landing a deal, given Gardner’s considerable influence.

Their connection goes back to their time together at Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School in Detroit, Michigan, where they graduated in the Class of 2019. Despite the years, they’ve maintained their friendship, staying in touch and following each other on social media.

Miller, who followed coach Lance Leipold from Buffalo to Lawrence, didn’t secure a post-draft contract, but he’s set to participate in minicamps with the Baltimore Ravens and the Bears. His journey to earn a spot on a practice squad or preseason roster continues.

Responding to Gardner’s tweet, Miller affirmed his determination, stating, “I’ve always taken the hard road. My football journey isn’t over yet!”

It’s another instance of Gardner’s influence extending beyond the field, potentially shaping the trajectory of his former teammate’s career.
