In a recent interview with RMC Sport, Washington Wizards rookie Bilal Coulibaly expressed his view that Pascal Siakam, the former Toronto Raptors star, may not live up to his widespread acclaim. While acknowledging Siakam’s physical prowess, Coulibaly suggested that his offensive strategies might be predictable.
Despite Coulibaly’s assessment, Siakam demonstrated his dominance in their encounters this season, notably scoring 39 points on 15-for-23 shooting in November and adding a 22-point performance in another matchup. Notably, Coulibaly primarily defended Scottie Barnes in these games, with Siakam’s primary defender being Kyle Kuzma, against whom Siakam shot 10-for-14 according to NBA Stats.

Siakam boasts impressive season averages of 21.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, showcasing above-average offensive efficiency. Moreover, he is a two-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA player, and recipient of the NBA’s Most Improved Player award in 2019.
In contrast, Coulibaly, drafted eighth overall last year, averaged 8.4 points on 43.5% shooting with 1.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game for the Wizards, who had the second-worst record in the NBA this season. He transitioned to the NBA following two seasons with Metropolitans 92 in France.
