The head football coach of the Air Force team has agreed to a contract extension.

The Air Force Academy has announced the extension of Coach Troy Calhoun’s contract through 2029. Calhoun, who has been leading the football team at his Alma Mater since 2007, has achieved notable success during his tenure. Last season, the Falcons boasted a 9-4 record and secured a victory in their bowl game against JMU with a score of 31-21. Overall, Calhoun holds a record of 130 wins and 82 losses with the Falcons, including an impressive 40-12 record over the last four seasons.

Nathan Pine, the Athletic Director for Air Force, praised Calhoun’s leadership and commitment to the Academy’s mission, expressing pride in their shared success over the past five seasons. Pine looks forward to further achievements, especially in light of the new College Football Playoff model. With Calhoun at the helm for the next six years and beyond, the Academy is optimistic about the future of its football program.

Calhoun’s career has been intertwined with service to his country, having served as an active-duty officer in the Air Force from 1989 to 1995. He began his coaching journey with the Falcons, initially as the recruiting coordinator and junior varsity offensive coordinator in 1993-1994. Following stints at Ohio University, where he served as quarterbacks coach and later offensive coordinator, and Wake Forest, Calhoun returned to lead the Falcons to continued success.
