“Collingwood Braces for Forward Reshuffle as Key Forward Revealed as Latest Casualty”

Collingwood faces the absence of key forward Brody Mihocek due to a hamstring injury sustained during Friday night’s triumph over Carlton. Pies coach Craig McRae disclosed on SEN that Mihocek tore his hamstring in the third quarter but continued playing despite the injury, reflecting his resilience.

McRae acknowledged Mihocek’s dedication but emphasized his loss for the upcoming weeks, estimating a recovery period of two to three weeks.

Mihocek adds to Collingwood’s list of sidelined players, joining Beau McCreery (concussion), Lachie Schultz (suspension), and Tom Mitchell (appendicitis) as confirmed absentees for Round 9. Jordan De Goey (osteitis pubis) is also unlikely to feature.

Collingwood accepted Schultz’s one-match suspension for his altercation with Blake Acres, while McCreery’s concussion from an accidental knee blow mandates a 12-day absence from football.

Mitchell’s ongoing foot problem, coupled with his recent appendicitis diagnosis, prolongs his absence, with McRae confirming he’ll miss at least one more week.

The absence of Mihocek, Schultz, and McCreery creates opportunities for VFL players to step up, with Reef McInnes likely to replace Mihocek. Ash Johnson and Nathan Krueger are contenders, with Joe Richards impressing as a small forward in the reserves.

Jack Bytel’s standout performance in the VFL adds to the selection considerations, alongside Finlay Macrae’s consistent contributions. The club will provide further injury updates on Tuesday.

Collingwood has until Friday 5 pm to finalize their lineup for Sunday’s clash against West Coast at Marvel Stadium.
