Breaking News: “Kansas State Wildcats’ Head Coach Confirms Addition of 22-Year-Old Transfer Guard Amidst Somber Circumstances”

Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang continued to bolster his backcourt for the upcoming 2024-25 season with the addition of transfer guard Max Jones from Clearwater, Florida. Jones, who has played two seasons at Division II University of Tampa followed by two seasons at Cal State Fullerton, officially signed a Financial Aid Agreement with K-State on Friday afternoon.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 210 pounds, Jones brings valuable experience to K-State, having accumulated nearly 1,400 career points in 84 games, with 81 starts, throughout his collegiate career. His shooting percentages stand at 43.2% from the field, 36.3% from beyond the arc, and 79.9% from the free-throw line. Notably, Jones has recorded 26 20-point games and 6 30-point games in his career, with a career-high of 39 points achieved during his time at Tampa.

Coach Tang expressed excitement about Jones joining the Wildcats, emphasizing his versatility and scoring ability. Jones, a two-time First Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection and a 2022 D2CCA All-Region Team member, has showcased his scoring prowess throughout his collegiate journey.

In the 2023-24 season, Jones elevated his scoring average to 15.3 points per game while shooting 38.3% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range. Additionally, he contributed defensively, ranking third in steals in the Big West Conference with 1.7 steals per game.

Jones becomes the sixth player to sign with the Wildcats for the upcoming season, joining four other Division I transfers and a top-50 high school prospect. With K-State aiming to build on their success from the previous season, which included 19 wins and an appearance in the NIT, Jones’s addition adds depth and talent to the roster as they strive for further achievements under Coach Tang’s leadership.
