A promising prospect in the Red Sox organization has been sidelined by an injury after a strong start to the 2024 season.

Red Sox prospect Blaze Jordan suffered an injury on Saturday that will likely keep him out of action for a while.

Jordan was placed on the seven-day injured list on Sunday after fracturing his left ring finger. Red Sox farm director Brian Abraham told The Boston Globe that the 21-year-old is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks.

A third-round pick in 2020, Jordan had been performing well at Double-A Portland this season, batting .283/.342/.414 with two home runs and 16 RBIs in 26 games (111 plate appearances).

While his numbers may not stand out, especially for a player known for his raw power, Jordan has the lowest strikeout rate (9.9%) of any hitter in Double-A, which is a positive sign for his development, particularly considering previous concerns about his ability to make consistent contact.
