Mason Miller

Mason Miller #19 of the Oakland Athletics

The Philadelphia Phillies‘ remarkable run continued Monday night with a 5-4 victory over the New York Mets in Queens. If they maintain this level of play, the Phillies have a strong chance of achieving their goal of winning a World Series.

Dave Dombrowski has assembled an excellent roster, blending veterans with young talent who know how to win. What’s even more impressive is that Philadelphia is focused solely on taking care of business, with minimal distractions or complaints, just a determination to win at a high level.

Judging by recent years, Dombrowski will do whatever it takes to upgrade this team. This season, that might simply involve acquiring a top-tier relief pitcher to bolster their bullpen.

Mason Miller #19 of the Oakland Athletics

Mason Miller has been a hot topic on the market, though the Oakland Athletics haven’t officially made him available. However, given the A’s history of questionable decisions, there’s hope they might trade Miller this season, which would undoubtedly anger Oakland fans.

If they do make a move, Zach Pressnell of FanSided has suggested a trade to help the Phillies acquire Miller.

Pressnell’s proposal involves sending Miller to Philadelphia in exchange for Starlyn Caba and Griff McGarry.

This trade would keep top prospects like Andrew Painter, Mick Abel, Aidan Miller, and Justin Crawford in the Phillies’ system.

Although the A’s would likely want one of Painter, Miller, or Abel, landing a star reliever without giving up their top prospects would be incredible for the Phillies.

Oakland holds all the leverage, and while Dombrowski might feel pressured, it’s important for the Phillies to only make a deal if they’re comfortable with the terms.

Miller, a coveted trade target, has a 1.10 ERA and 33 strikeouts over 16 1/3 innings, showcasing his dominance whenever he pitches.
