Cheers and Jeers: Iconic College Football Program Draws Mixed Reactions After Alcohol Ban Lifted in 2024

Michigan supporters can celebrate the news that alcohol sales will be officially introduced at “The Big House” in 2024, as per a recent announcement from the university. However, not everyone is eagerly anticipating the upcoming college football season following this development. Some individuals have jestingly remarked that Michigan fans might require alcohol this season in the aftermath of former head coach Jim Harbaugh’s departure.

Following their national championship victory last season, Michigan will be without many key players, including quarterback JJ McCarthy, running back Blake Corum, and offensive linemen Zak Zinter and Trevor Keegan, who have all moved on to the NFL.

The stadium’s newly obtained liquor license will become effective on August 31, coinciding with Michigan’s season opener against Fresno State. The game is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally on NBC.

Heading into the fall, the Wolverines will be led by new head coach Sherrone Moore, formerly the offensive coordinator. Should the season not unfold as anticipated, fans may find solace in a drink or two.
