A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to support the family of Auburn running back Brian Battie, who was reportedly involved in a shooting incident in Sarasota, Florida, early Saturday morning. Tragically, Battie’s older brother, Tommie Battie IV, lost his life in the same incident.
The organizers of the GoFundMe, identified as Kelli Raines and Tanya Babinski, have set a goal of $100,000. As of Sunday night, 8 p.m., over $32,000 has been raised.

The loss of Tommie Battie IV is described as an unimaginable tragedy that has deeply affected the family and all who knew him.
The organizers appealed for continued prayers for Brian’s full recovery and requested financial assistance to cover unforeseen funeral expenses and medical bills, recognizing the emotional and financial burdens brought by such a tragic event.

Multiple Tampa-area media outlets have reported Battie as one of the victims in a shooting incident that occurred in the 3400 block of 17th Street, Sarasota, around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Sarasota Director of Community Affairs Evan Keats confirmed to AL.com that Brian Battie’s older brother, Tommie Battie, aged 24, was killed in the shooting.
While Keats did not confirm the names of other victims due to Florida’s Marsy’s Law statute, he did confirm that four additional victims were hospitalized. There is currently no update on their conditions.
