Since Ronald Acuna Jr.’s season-ending injury, the Atlanta Braves’ offensive output has been lackluster, tallying just 25 runs with a .238/.281/.351 slash line over seven games. Despite these struggles, recent MLB trade rumors suggest that Atlanta is not actively pursuing a replacement outfielder.
Instead, the organization is pinning its hopes on the return of All-Star catcher Sean Murphy and All-Star third baseman Austin Riley to bolster the lineup. However, even with the return of these key hitters, offensive production has faltered.
The Braves find themselves in a challenging position, as fewer teams are willing to sell early in the season due to the expanded MLB playoffs. Additionally, other teams may see an opportunity to exploit Atlanta’s vulnerability after losing Acuna. However, despite available options like veteran outfielder Tommy Pham of the Chicago White Sox, the Braves have reportedly not engaged in trade talks.
According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Pham has been a productive presence in the White Sox lineup this season, boasting a .733 OPS over 132 at-bats. With an affordable contract and potential as a rental player, Pham could be an attractive option for Atlanta. Nevertheless, for now, the Braves seem committed to sticking with their current outfield trio of Michael Harris, Adam Duvall, and Jarred Kelenic, hoping for an improvement in their offensive performance.
