Breaking News: Colts Sign 21-Year-Old WR, Finalize Draft Contracts.

Four Day 2 picks are now part of the Colts’ wide receiver depth chart, though the latest selection, Adonai Mitchell, might not start early but is expected to play a key role by season’s end.

The Colts selected Mitchell with the 52nd overall pick and have signed him to a four-year rookie contract. Mitchell’s deal includes 65% guaranteed money, with $700K of his 2026 base salary secured, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2. This marks a shift, as last year’s similar picks, like Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet, did not receive Year 3 guarantees.

PFF's Colts rookie to watch is WR Adonai Mitchell

Mitchell joins a team active in drafting wideouts on Day 2, similar to the Steelers. Michael Pittman Jr., who signed a three-year, $70M extension, Alec Pierce (Round 2, 2022), Josh Downs (Round 3, 2023), and Mitchell now form a strong receiver corps. Mitchell transferred to Texas in 2023, where he had a breakout season, boosting his draft stock.

The Colts have relied heavily on Pittman, though Downs showed promise with 771 yards last season. Pierce has exceeded 500 yards in both seasons since being drafted. With all four Day 2 wideouts signed beyond 2024, the Colts aim to support QB Anthony Richardson’s development.

This signing completes the Colts’ 2024 draft class, ahead of their minicamp. Here is how Chris Ballard’s latest haul breaks down:
