The recruitment pipeline between Dallas and Stillwater continues to flourish as McKinney, Texas native Jordan Covington announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Saturday night. Covington, a three-star defensive lineman, becomes the third Dallas-Fort Worth area commit for the Cowboys in the 2025 recruiting class, choosing Oklahoma State over other offers from Kansas, Missouri, and TCU.

Standing at 6-foot-3, Covington made his decision during his official visit to Stillwater over the weekend. “The coaches and players were really welcoming me,” Covington shared with GoPokes247. “I’ve already had a great relationship with some of the coaches, but during my visit, I got close with some of the players really fast.”

Covington received an offer from Oklahoma State on May 3, following a visit from defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo at McKinney High. Over the past month and a half, his relationship with Nardo and defensive line coach Paul Randolph has strengthened. Covington noted that the coaches’ genuine care and honesty were standout qualities.

As a junior in 2023, Covington played 12 games for McKinney, recording 22 tackles, seven tackles for loss, six sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pass breakup. The chance to reunite with former teammate Jonathan Agumadu and fellow DFW standout Landyn Cleveland also influenced his decision to join the Cowboys.

“It means a lot getting to play with them again,” Covington said. “I will be able to create more memories with the guys who also helped me with my Oklahoma State recruitment.”

With Covington’s commitment, Oklahoma State now boasts the No. 32 recruiting class nationally and No. 5 in the Big 12. He is the second defensive commit for the Cowboys’ 2025 class, joining three-star edge rusher Kyle Keya from Wichita.
