Auburn Tigers News: New Commit, 4-Star RB Sees Culture Fit on the Plains

Inspired by his close friend and teammate Blake Woodby’s official visit experience, 4-star linebacker Bryce Deas visited Auburn football over the weekend for a private workout and camp. After two days on the Plains, Deas received an offer from the Tigers and committed on Tuesday.**

Deas worked closely with defensive coordinator DJ Durkin during the private workout. Spending so much time with the coaching staff made his decision easy.

“You can tell that they want to make you better,” Deas said, per Auburn Undercover. “They touch on every point and everything I messed up on and have a coaching point on it. Just me being able to be coachable, that’s going to be good for the both of us: me and Coach Durkin.”

Baylor's Shekai Mills-Knight (1) escapes a tackle attempt by McCallie's De'shun Tipton (20) during the TSSAA BlueCross Bowl Division II-AAA championship game at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. on Thursday, Nov 30, 2023.

Ranked as the #16 recruit out of Maryland and the #66 linebacker in the class of 2025, Deas is being recruited to Auburn as a ‘defensive athlete’ capable of playing multiple positions.

**4-Star RB Fits Auburn Football Culture**

Also visiting the Tigers over the weekend was 4-star running back Shekai Mills-Knight, who has become a priority target for Auburn’s running backs coach Derrick Nix. He has also built a strong relationship with head coach Hugh Freeze, who believes Mills-Knight would be a perfect fit for the Tigers.

“It was really real, he’s one of the more down to earth coaches, he’s really transparent,” Mills-Knight said, per Auburn Rivals. “He was telling me he needs me here. He wants me, he likes the person I am, and I fit the culture.”

Mills-Knight, ranked as the #33 RB in the class of 2025, has already visited Alabama, Miami, and Michigan and has upcoming trips planned to Ole Miss and Tennessee. He hopes to make a final decision before starting his senior year.
