Lachlan Galvin has ended speculation about his future by assuring Wests Tigers executives that he is fully committed to fulfilling his contract. On Thursday night, Galvin texted coach Benji Marshall, reaffirming his desire to remain with the club. This follows an emergency meeting with his family earlier in the week.
Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson and head of football Matthew Betsey visited Galvin’s parents at their Gregory Hills home to discuss his future after his agent requested a release. Richardson described the meeting as highly positive, noting the full support of Galvin’s parents.
Marshall refuted claims that Galvin had expressed a desire to leave the club, stating that the issue had been resolved. Galvin, signed until the end of 2026, had been considering his options but has now decided to stay with the Tigers, aiming to lead the club’s resurgence.
Although he will miss the upcoming game against the Titans due to a hand injury, he is expected to return the following week against the Raiders.
Galvin’s junior career has been impressive, with 11 grand final wins despite being released by his childhood club, Parramatta. He started his NRL career strongly, contributing to the Tigers’ early victories but has faced challenges as the team endured a losing streak. Looking ahead, Galvin is set to partner with incoming star Jarome Luai, with the club also bolstered by the addition of Sunia Turuva.
