Tight end Camren McDonald

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats made a notable move on Wednesday by signing two American players, tight end Camren McDonald and defensive back Kordell Rodgers, to their roster.

Camren McDonald, 24, is no stranger to the Tiger-Cats, having spent training camp with the team earlier this year after initially signing in May. The six-foot-four, 245-pound Long Beach, CA native brings experience from the NFL, where he had stints with the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers in 2023. McDonald had a productive collegiate career at Florida State University, playing 58 games over five seasons (2018-2022) and recording 74 receptions for 861 yards and five touchdowns.

Defensive back Kordell Rodgers

Kordell Rodgers, 25, joins the Tiger-Cats after a solid season with the Montreal Alouettes in 2023. The five-foot-11, 175-pound defensive back from Lufkin, TX played in 12 games, including 11 starts, for the Alouettes, amassing 37 total tackles, two tackles for loss, three pass knockdowns, and two interceptions. Rodgers had an impressive college career at Texas State University, participating in 51 games over six seasons (2017-2022) and totaling 156 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, seven interceptions, 25 passes defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

In conjunction with these signings, the Tiger-Cats announced the release of American wide receiver Kaylon Geiger and American defensive back Mark Milton. Geiger and Milton’s departures make room for the new additions as Hamilton aims to strengthen its lineup.

These roster changes signal the Tiger-Cats’ commitment to enhancing their team dynamics as they look forward to the upcoming games. McDonald and Rodgers bring valuable skills and experience that the team hopes will contribute to their success on the field.
