Oregon State Secures Key Commitments from Three-Star Safety Sean Craig and Offensive Lineman Halafihi Tapu

Sean Craig

Oregon State had a productive Sunday on the football recruiting trail, securing commitments from a safety and an offensive lineman, significantly strengthening its 2025 recruiting class.

The day began with Sean Craig, a three-star safety from Henderson, Nevada, committing to the Beavers. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Craig, who attends Liberty High School, is the teammate of linebacker Jeremiah Ioane, another recent Oregon State commit. Craig had visited the Corvallis campus the first weekend of June and chose the Beavers over offers from San Diego State, Washington State, and Air Force. As a junior, he earned first-team Class 5A Division I all-state honors in Nevada.

Just hours after Craig’s commitment, Halafihi “Brian” Tapu, a towering 6-foot-7, 295-pound three-star offensive lineman from Salt Lake City, announced his decision to join Oregon State. Tapu, originally from New Zealand, moved to Utah before the 2023-24 school year to pursue football, while his parents remain in New Zealand. Tapu’s recruitment has seen significant interest, with offers from prestigious programs such as Texas A&M, Utah, Nebraska, Arkansas, Arizona, and Arizona State. He made his commitment during a visit to Oregon State this weekend, following an official visit to Nebraska earlier this month.

Tapu’s addition marks the third offensive lineman in Oregon State’s 2025 recruiting class, joining Jake Normoyle of West Linn and Noah Thomas of Vancouver. The Beavers’ 2025 class now includes seven players, reflecting the program’s proactive approach in building a strong foundation for the future.

These commitments underscore Oregon State’s growing appeal and strategic recruitment efforts, positioning the team for continued success. As the Beavers prepare for upcoming seasons, the talents of Craig and Tapu are expected to make significant contributions on the field.
