Max Verstappen shares his opinion on the likelihood of having a female driver in Formula 1.
Max Verstappen suggests that the lower participation numbers make it more challenging for women to enter Formula 1. However, he believes that the necessary skills for success in the sport are trainable.
Max Verstappen acknowledges that, despite the current imbalance in the number of men and women involved in racing, the prospect of having a female Formula 1 driver is indeed possible.
Coming from a racing family with his father Jos and mother Sophie Kumpen involved in motorsports, Verstappen recognizes the odds against female drivers due to the higher male participation.
He emphasizes, however, that the creation of pathways to teach racing skills could level the playing field. Verstappen sees no reason why a female driver couldn’t join the F1 grid if she demonstrated the requisite ability. When asked about what F1 needs to do to facilitate the inclusion of female drivers, Verstappen notes that the low percentage of men making it to Formula 1 already makes it challenging.
He suggests that for women, the task is even more formidable due to the fewer female participants, but it remains achievable with the right skills and opportunities.
