Penn State lands 2025 four-star DE Max Granville, continues recruiting momentum

Penn State has added another standout recruit to its 2025 class with the commitment of Max Granville, a highly regarded four-star defensive end/linebacker from Fort Bend Christian Academy in Texas. Granville announced his verbal commitment to the Nittany Lions on Monday evening, choosing Penn State over strong interest from Oklahoma, Texas A&M, USC, and Baylor, as well as offers from top programs like Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State.

Granville becomes the sixth commitment Penn State has secured in the past week, joining other top prospects such as defensive backs Jahmir Joseph and Antonio Branch Jr., Imhotep tailback Jabree Wallace-Coleman, edge rusher Cortez Harris, and athlete Braswell Thomas.

Ranked as high as the 109th overall prospect in his class by ESPN, Granville stands out for his size at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, and his versatile talent, which recruiting outlets debate categorizing between defensive end and linebacker.

Initially believed to favor Oklahoma, Granville’s commitment to Penn State marks a significant achievement for head coach James Franklin, defensive line coach Deion Barnes, and the entire coaching staff. With Granville onboard, Penn State’s 2025 recruiting class, previously ranked 11th nationally by 247 Sports, continues to strengthen its roster for the future. Granville’s decision concludes a busy June that included visits to several top programs before ultimately choosing to join the Nittany Lions.
