Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley committed to Florida State over Georgia and LSU on Tuesday during a school ceremony. His decision came just over 48 hours after concluding his official visit to FSU. After leaving Tallahassee, Wiley planned to discuss with his parents to find the “best fit” and a place that “checked all the boxes.”
Evidently, that place is FSU for the 6-foot-4, 195-pound wide receiver. He chose the Seminoles over the in-state Bulldogs, who had been favored in his recruitment recently, and the Tigers, where his father was an All-SEC defensive end from 1994 to 1997, and his mother also attended.
“With all that being said, I’ll be going to the University of Florida State,” Wiley announced, picking up a Florida State hat off the table. “Go ‘Noles.”
The room seemed stunned, expecting a last-minute change, and only cheered once Wiley started celebrating with the hat on.
When asked why he chose FSU, Wiley responded, “They’ve recruited me since I was a freshman. We’ve really built trust throughout the process. I believe I can achieve my goals there.”
This commitment is a significant win for Mike Norvell and his team. All 247Sports.com Crystal Ball predictions had favored Georgia. Wiley also considered Alabama, Auburn, USC, and others.
As a junior, Wiley recorded 68 receptions for 1,473 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 21.7 yards per catch. He is known for his long, lanky frame, excellent catch radius, and good speed. FSU plans to use him in multiple roles on the field.
“They told me I’d be playing both outside and inside, similar to Keon [Coleman] and Johnny [Wilson]. Sometimes they played inside and outside, so yeah, I’ll move around,” Wiley said over the weekend. “It’s important because you want to play more than one spot on the field. It just proves you are more valuable,” he added.
FSU worked hard to secure Wiley, having him visit last October for a game, for Junior Day in January, and an unofficial visit on April 2nd, culminating in an official visit last week.
Wiley is the first wide receiver commitment for the Seminoles’ 2025 class and the sixth commitment overall, joining Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. and Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines offensive lineman Solomon Thomas. Wiley is ranked No. 136 overall and No. 15 wide receiver in the 2025 class by the 247Sports.com Composite Rankings and No. 19 prospect in Georgia.
247Sports.com ranks him slightly lower at No. 223 overall, No. 25 at his position, and No. 32 wide receiver nationally.
247Sports Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks describes Wiley as a big-framed outside receiver with excellent physical tools, multi-sport background, and football pedigree. He has a large catch radius, is a potential red-zone threat, and has impressive run-after-catch ability. His father, an All-SEC defensive lineman at LSU, played in the NFL. Wiley projects as a high-major receiver with potential for an NFL future.
