USC Football suffers a setback as one of their top recruits from the class of 2025 has decided to decommit, as reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3. Four-star safety Hylton Stubbs, originally from Florida, has opted to withdraw his commitment from USC.

Following his decommitment, the University of Florida has emerged as the frontrunner to secure Stubbs’ commitment, despite his official commitment still pending. Stubbs, ranked nationally at No. 99, the 10th best safety in his class, and 17th in his home state, expressed strong interest in staying close to home. He highlighted Florida’s persistent pursuit of him as a significant factor in his decision-making process.
As per 247Sports, Florida and Miami currently lead the race for Stubbs, with Alabama, Arkansas, and USC also in contention. Standing tall at 6-foot-2 and weighing 195 pounds, Stubbs played a pivotal role in his high school team’s journey to Florida’s 4M title game, showcasing impressive stats with 97 tackles (8.5 for loss), six interceptions, six pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, 2.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles during his junior season.
