Breaking News: Auburn Secures Elite Offensive Lineman Commitment

Auburn led the race for Jacobe Ward in both the spring and summer, and now they have secured his commitment. The 3-star interior offensive lineman chose the Tigers over Tennessee and LSU.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 335 pounds, Ward is ranked No. 682 overall, No. 44 among interior offensive linemen, and No. 75 in Georgia according to the 247Sports Composite. From Benedictine Military School (Ga.), he is listed by 247Sports as the No. 81 interior offensive lineman and No. 110 player from Georgia.

Despite his ranking, Auburn sees Ward as an immediate impact player at guard, with offensive line coach Jake Thornton heavily pursuing him.

“Mainly it was just the environment of Auburn,” Ward told Auburn Undercover. “The coaches as well. I have a great relationship with all of the coaches, especially Coach Thornton. He does the simple things that other coaches didn’t do. Coach Freeze also made me feel important, playing a father figure role and always being available.”

Thornton emphasized to Ward that he could start from Day 1 at Auburn, which was a significant factor in his decision.

“That was the biggest part of my recruitment,” Ward said. “Finding a place where I fit in. Coach Thornton broke down every aspect of how I fit in on the team.”

Ward first visited Auburn in March and named them his leader then. After visiting South Carolina, LSU, and Tennessee, he returned to Auburn in June and reaffirmed their position as his top choice.

Following his official visit to Auburn, he took official visits to Tennessee and LSU, but he knew from his first visit to Auburn that it was the right fit.

“Honestly I knew the first time I stepped foot in Auburn,” Ward said. “It just felt like home. I didn’t want to miss out on other official visits, but Auburn felt like home.”

Ward is Auburn’s 16th commitment in the 2025 class, joining four other offensive line commits. The class is ranked No. 11 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.

Now committed, Ward is focused on recruiting his teammate and Miami edge commit Herbert “Third” Scroggins back to Auburn.

“I’m most definitely recruiting some guys,” Ward said. “I’m trying to get Third back with us. He’s my main target since he’s my dog. I’m trying to get him back for sure.”
