In today’s basketball landscape, every NBA team needs a dependable shooter to spread the floor and enhance their offensive strategy. Former Phoenix Suns shooting guard Landry Shamet is attracting interest from multiple teams after recently becoming an unrestricted free agent.
Shamet was drafted 26th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2018 NBA Draft following a successful college career at Wichita State. He had a standout rookie season, setting the franchise record for most 3-pointers made by a rookie with eight in a game against the Washington Wizards.
In 2019, Shamet was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers and made an immediate impact, scoring 17 points in his debut, including 13 in the fourth quarter, to help the team overcome a 28-point deficit against the Boston Celtics led by Jayson Tatum.
After a season with the Clippers, Shamet joined the Brooklyn Nets for the 2020-21 season, where he maintained his reputation as a reliable three-point shooter, hitting over 40% of his attempts. In 2021, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he played for the next two seasons.
Most recently, in 2023, Shamet signed with the Washington Wizards as a free agent. Throughout his NBA career, Shamet has established himself as a top-tier perimeter shooter and a valuable 3-and-D player, earning a spot on the 2019 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

While most of the major free agents have been signed, Landry Shamet remains available this year. According to a tweet by Michael Scotto on X, the former Phoenix Suns guard is attracting interest from multiple NBA teams.
“Landry Shamet has cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent, league sources told @hoopshype. Shamet has shot 38.4 percent from 3-point range in his career and has several interested suitors,” Scotto tweeted.
Throughout his six-year career, Shamet has averaged 8.7 points on 38 percent shooting from beyond the arc, along with 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. His ability to hit long-range shots and provide floor spacing makes him an appealing option for teams like LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, and Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks, among others.
It remains to be seen where Shamet will land after the offseason, but given his strengths, he is unlikely to be without a team for long.
