Alperen Sengun recently completed his third NBA season with the Houston Rockets, averaging 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He shot 53.7% from the field and 29.7% from three-point range over 63 games.
On Wednesday, Marc Berman of The New York Post reported that the New York Knicks are interested in Sengun and Jalen Duren.
According to Berman: “Leon Rose was in the front row of the press conference with Mikal’s mother yesterday. He didn’t speak but is still working on making a big center move after Philadelphia’s two additions. I’ve heard that Houston’s Sengun has been on the radar, as well as Detroit’s Jalen Duren, even before the Pistons signed Paul Reed.”
The New York Knicks have been busy this offseason, having already executed a blockbuster trade to acquire Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets.
Last season, they finished as the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 50-32 record.
Alperen Sengun was selected as the 16th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Throughout his career, he has averaged 14.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 52.8% from the field and 28.4% from three-point range across 210 regular season games.
Meanwhile, Jalen Duren was selected as the 13th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons after playing at Memphis.
In the past season, he averaged 13.8 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, shooting 61.9% from the field across 61 games.
