MLB TRADE: Angels Starting Pitcher To Be Trade Target For Cleveland Guardians

Tyler Anderson

As the trade deadline approaches, the Cleveland Guardians need to bolster their pitching rotation, and one prime target should be Los Angeles Angels starter Tyler Anderson.

Anderson, 36, is enjoying a solid season with the Angels, boasting a 2.97 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP over 19 starts. Despite being in the twilight of his career, his pitching run value stands at nine, ranking in the 83rd percentile.

What the Guardians need most from their starters is the ability to pitch deep into games, and Anderson has consistently delivered on this front. He has pitched at least seven innings in eight of his starts this season, with his shortest outing being 4.2 innings against the Detroit Tigers on June 30.

Given Anderson’s performance and his contract, which runs through the 2025 season, the Angels may demand a significant return. However, acquiring a reliable veteran arm like Anderson could provide Cleveland with crucial stability for the rest of this season and into next.

The Guardians’ current pitching situation necessitates another starting arm, and targeting Anderson could strengthen their roster without the high cost of pursuing someone like the Chicago White Sox’s Garrett Crochet.
