Breaking News: LSU Football Faces Heartbreaking Loss with Tight End Injury

LSU sophomore tight end Mac Markway has departed the team during preseason practice.

Markway informed the coaching staff on Monday night of his decision to leave LSU, though Coach Brian Kelly did not specify what Markway’s future plans are.

“He’s decided not to continue playing here,” Kelly said. “I’m not sure if he plans to transfer or what his next steps will be, but he notified us that he would not be returning.”

Last season, Markway appeared in every game, making three catches for 16 yards and a touchdown, while primarily serving as a run blocker and special teams contributor.

With Markway’s departure, LSU may lean more on multi-tight end formations this fall, relying on junior Mason Taylor, sophomore Ka’Morreun Pimpton, and freshman Trey’Dez Green.
