The LSU Football team currently boasts 22 commitments for the 2025 recruiting class, placing them third nationally. This class features eight top-100 recruits and an even split of 11 commitments on both offense and defense. While LSU’s recruiting efforts are strong across the board, the cornerback position remains a key focus.
Corey Raymond has secured a notable commitment from DJ Pickett, the top-ranked defensive player in the class according to On3. However, LSU will need to add at least two more cornerbacks, as competition for Pickett remains fierce from programs across the country.
One potential addition is Louisiana native Aidan Anding, a Ruston star ranked as a three-star recruit by On3. Anding is the 31st cornerback nationally and the 12th-ranked player in Louisiana. Initially expected to commit to the Texas Longhorns, Anding has delayed his decision after LSU made significant progress in his recruitment. He plans to announce his choice by the end of August, with LSU facing competition from Arkansas and Texas.
The Tigers have gained momentum, particularly following the Bayou Splash recruiting weekend, where Anding visited the campus along with other top state recruits. At Ruston, Anding played alongside LSU freshman Ahmad Breaux and 2027 top-50 recruit Ahmad Houston, and faced off against LSU freshman Trey’Dez Green in the State Championship Game.
Looking ahead, Corey Raymond may face limitations in recruiting many of his preferred Football cornerbacks, given that the only current cornerback not expected to return is Zy Alexander. LSU might lose additional defensive backs to the NFL Draft or the transfer portal, but the core of the secondary is likely to remain intact for 2025. Ideally, Raymond would secure at least three cornerbacks, with four being the optimal outcome for this class.
