Reds pitcher sidelined with injury, adding to team’s growing list of concerns.

The Cincinnati Reds have placed left-handed pitcher Sam Moll on the 15-day injured list due to a left shoulder impingement. This marks Moll’s second stint on the IL this season. He has been struggling with this injury since mid-June, and it worsened during his bullpen warm-up on Friday. On Saturday, Moll allowed three runs on one hit, one walk, and one hit batter in just one inning of relief, contributing to the Reds’ 4-0 loss to the New York Mets.

For Moll, this season has seen him post a 3-2 record with a 3.35 ERA, 14 walks, and 38 strikeouts in 37⅔ innings across 48 relief appearances. Over five MLB seasons with the Oakland Athletics (2017, 2021-23) and the Reds (2023-24), Moll has a career record of 7-6 with one save, a 3.42 ERA, 74 walks, and 167 strikeouts.

In response to Moll’s injury, the Reds have recalled right-hander Casey Legumina from Triple-A Louisville. Legumina, 27, has struggled in his brief major league appearances this season, with a 10.50 ERA, two walks, and four strikeouts in six innings across three relief outings. Since making his MLB debut in 2023, Legumina has a career record of 1-0 with a 7.23 ERA, 11 walks, and 15 strikeouts in 18⅔ innings over 14 relief appearances.
